Student event by IFLA Division C

A student event IFLA Division has been hosted as part of a monthly Webinar Series for LIS students. These webinar sessions will be on different themes. All events will be held online and will be open to everyone without any registration fees. Registration link will be provided in the pre-lunching promotions.

On March 23, 2022, Cleo Jones presented as a keynote speaker on the topic of “Libraries Deliver: the power of libraries to deliver Social Capital. Persuading decision-makers that Libraries matter. She is the Lifelong Learning Strategic Officer (Libraries)| Schools and Lifelong Learning | Communities and Families | City of Edinburgh

Mrs. Shalani Dilinika Jayamanne Mohottige presented as a student speaker on the topic of “Every voice makes a difference: The importance of ‘Blogs’ to promote library advocacy.” She is a PhD student at the School of Computing and Information, University of Pittsburgh, USA. She started the library blog, “Bringing the Library into the 21st Century,” to create awareness and disclosure on the importance of libraries as 21st-century learning hubs.

Loida Garcia Febo delivered her presentation in the closing on the title “Each librarian is an advocate! Working together we can advance the library agenda with decision-makers.” American Library Association President 2018-2019; Information Coordinator, IFLA New Professionals; Co-Founder, Advisor, Founder, New Librarians Global Connections online series, IFLA Governing Board Member 2013-2017.
